Faculty AI Workshop

AI training for college faculty that changes Monday's class

Hands-on professional development led by Tim Mousel, a professor who has taught in higher education since 1993 and chairs the Lone Star College System-Wide AI Task Force. Your faculty practice with the tools your campus has approved, redesign a real assignment, and leave with a plan for the first week back.

The fit

Built for the people who lead faculty development

Who it is for

  • Provosts and chief academic officers planning convocation and professional development days
  • Directors of teaching and learning centers and faculty development offices
  • Deans and department chairs who want discipline-specific guidance for their faculty
  • Adjunct, dual credit, and new faculty programs
  • Instructional designers and online learning teams

The problem it solves

Faculty arrive at AI from very different starting points. Some build with it every day, some have written it out of their syllabus, and many are waiting for clear guidance that fits the courses they actually teach.

This workshop gives every faculty member the same practical foundation: time to practice with approved tools, a shared framework for assignment design, and honest discussion of where AI helps learning and where it gets in the way. Faculty go back to their courses with work already started.

Outcomes

What participants leave with

Every session is hands-on. Faculty build and test during the workshop, so the outcomes are finished work they can use right away.

The ARAD framework. AI-Responsive Assignment Design is Tim's five-step system for redesigning assignments for a world with AI. The full guide is free to read with no sign-up.

Open the ARAD guide
  • A clear sense of where AI strengthens learning in their discipline and where it undercuts it
  • One real assignment redesigned with the ARAD framework for AI-responsive assignment design
  • A custom chatbot or agent built for a task they do every week
  • Instructions and prompts that produce reliable, on-brand output
  • Confident, privacy-minded use of campus-approved tools such as Microsoft Copilot
  • Ready-to-use prompts, tools, and a plan for the first week back
  • A shared vocabulary for talking with students about acceptable AI use in each course

A 3-hour hands-on workshop

Sample agenda for illustration. We adjust timing, topics, and tools to your faculty during the planning call.

  1. 0:00 to 0:20Where AI stands today. Live demonstrations of what current tools can do with a real course task, and a quick read on the room's starting points.
  2. 0:20 to 0:55Prompts and instructions that work. Role, context, examples, and format, practiced in your campus-approved tool.

Buyer questions

Faculty AI training FAQ

What determines the cost of a faculty AI workshop?

Four things: session length, group size, the amount of customization for your disciplines, and travel for in-person delivery. After the consultation call we send a fixed quote, so the number you approve is the number you pay.

Can you tailor the workshop to our disciplines and our AI policy?

Yes. During the planning call we collect your campus AI policy, your approved tools, and the departments attending. Examples, practice tasks, and the assignment redesign work are then built around the courses those faculty teach.

Is in-person training better than virtual?

Both work well. In-person delivery suits convocations and multi-day institutes, where the room's energy matters. Live virtual sessions suit multi-campus systems and series that run across a term. Every format includes hands-on practice.

Which AI tools do you teach, and how do you handle data privacy?

We start with the tools your campus has already approved, such as Microsoft Copilot, and add others such as ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude only where your policy allows. Privacy guidance is part of every session: faculty learn which information, including student records, stays out of AI tools and how to configure the tools they use.

How do procurement and invoicing work?

Share your purchasing requirements on the consultation call. We provide a written quote and an invoice, and we work within your institution's purchasing process.

Can grant funds pay for faculty AI training?

Many institutions fund faculty development through professional development budgets or grants. If a grant is paying, tell us its requirements and we will align the scope and documentation with them. Funding decisions rest with your institution and the grantor.
