Houston-Based AI Education Leader Brings Frontline Educator Perspective to White House Policy Discussion

WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 7, 2025 – Tim Mousel, Founder and CEO of Evolve AI Institute and college educator for over 30 years, participated in the White House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence Education yesterday, serving as one of the few active educators present at the historic meeting led by First Lady Melania Trump.

The high-level meeting convened CEOs from Microsoft, Google, IBM, and OpenAI, alongside key government officials including Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy; Education Secretary Linda McMahon; Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer; and White House Special Advisor for AI David Sacks.

As a full-time faculty member at Lone Star College and nationally recognized expert in AI education implementation, Mousel brought a critical perspective often missing from policy discussions: the voice of educators actively teaching students in the classroom daily.

"Walking through the front door of The White House was a surreal moment, but what mattered most was ensuring that educator voices are heard in these crucial policy conversations. We can't have AI education shaped solely by politicians and CEOs—the teachers and professors in classrooms every day must help guide this transformation."

— Tim Mousel, Founder & CEO, Evolve AI Institute

Critical Concerns Raised: Educator Inclusion and Higher Education

During discussions with White House leadership, Mousel emphasized two critical concerns that he believes must be addressed for AI education initiatives to succeed:

1. Frontline Educators Must Play a Central Role: While teaching associations provide valuable input, Mousel stressed the importance of including educators who are actively implementing AI in classrooms. These frontline professionals understand the practical challenges, opportunities, and student needs that policy must address.

2. Higher Education Cannot Be an Afterthought: With the White House initiative primarily focused on K-12 education, Mousel advocated strongly for including higher education institutions. He highlighted that college students are graduating and entering the workforce largely unprepared in terms of AI literacy, creating a critical gap that must be addressed.

During the event, Mousel had meaningful conversations with U.S. Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer, sharing details about the AI initiatives he has implemented at Lone Star College and his work with educational institutions nationwide through Evolve AI Institute.

A Commitment to Non-Partisan AI Education Advancement

Mousel emphasized that his participation and advocacy represent a commitment to advancing AI education policy regardless of political affiliation.

"The future of AI in education transcends politics. This is about ensuring every student, regardless of background or the schools they attend, has access to the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in an AI-augmented world."

— Tim Mousel

Despite his concerns about educator representation, Mousel expressed optimism about many White House initiatives, noting that they will have significant positive impact on AI literacy for both students and educators nationwide.
