Case Study

A community college partnership that grew with every visit

Between June 2025 and February 2026, a public community college invited Evolve AI Institute to campus three times. Each engagement asked for more: a curriculum design session, then a two-day, 12-hour workshop, then two days of AI 101 and Advanced AI paired with consulting.

The starting point

2025 put every college on the same deadline

By 2025, generative AI had moved from novelty to daily reality on community college campuses across the country. Students were already using it. Faculty were asking how to keep assignments meaningful. Staff were finding AI features inside the software they used every day, often before anyone had explained what those features could do or how to use them safely.

Most colleges had the same three needs at once, and very little time to build the training themselves. This case study follows what one community college chose to book, in the order it booked it, and what one participant said about the result.

Curriculum

Course materials and assignments written before generative AI needed a fresh look, discipline by discipline.

Confidence

Faculty and staff wanted hands-on time with the tools so they could judge them from experience.

Direction

Leaders needed a practical path from scattered experiments to shared, campus-wide practice.

What we delivered

Three visits, each one deeper than the last

The relationship began with a single conference-style session and grew into multi-day, on-campus work.

  1. June 2025 · Engagement 1 “Implementing Generative AI in Curriculum Design” A session for faculty on bringing generative AI into course and curriculum design. Session
  2. September 2025 · Engagement 2 Two-Day, 12-Hour Workshop on Generative AI Twelve hours of hands-on generative AI work across two days on campus. Two-day workshop
  3. February 2026 · Engagement 3 “AI 101 & Advanced AI” A two-day on-campus workshop covering AI foundations and advanced practice, with consulting added to the visit. Workshop + consulting

What participants built

Hands on the tools from the first hour

Our workshops spend most of their time on building. Participants pick a task they do every week, write the instructions for a custom assistant or agent, test it, and refine it until it does the job reliably.

At the February 2026 AI 101 workshop, attendees submitted takeaways in their own words during the session. One of them summed up the morning in two sentences.

183

attendee takeaways collected across 27 of our sessions, quoted verbatim.

I enjoyed learning about how to create an agent, that will be really helpful for my job. I created 4 different agents this morning.

Why they came back

The booking history tells the story

A college invests its professional development days carefully. This one came back twice, and each time it asked for more time and a wider scope.

One session became two days

The June 2025 curriculum design session was followed three months later by a two-day, 12-hour workshop on generative AI.

Training expanded to consulting

The February 2026 visit added consulting alongside the two workshop days, so the college booked advice as well as instruction.

Foundations and depth in one visit

Pairing AI 101 with Advanced AI let the same two days serve people meeting the tools for the first time and people ready to go further.
