TEXAS, November 5, 2026 — Evolve AI Institute today announced that its Cybersecurity Awareness Training for Texas Government is certified by the Texas Cyber Command (TXCC) for fiscal year 2026-2027. The course joins the company's AI Awareness Training for Texas Government, certified by the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) as program #26, giving Texas public employers a single provider for both annual training requirements.
Who the requirement covers
Since House Bill 3834 in 2019, Texas state agencies and local governments train their employees in cybersecurity every year using a state-certified program. Cities, counties, school districts, special districts, and public colleges and universities all fall under the requirement, which covers employees who use a computer for at least 25% of their duties along with elected and appointed officials. The Texas Cyber Command now certifies these programs under Texas Government Code Section 2063.102, and completion is due by August 31 of each fiscal year.
What the course includes
The self-paced course takes about an hour on any device. Four required modules cover safeguarding information resources, phishing and business email compromise, ransomware, incident reporting, safe use of generative AI, and the foreign adversary interaction rules and 30-day reporting requirement in Texas Government Code Section 572.070. An optional track serves employees in IT roles. Six practice scenarios walk learners through realistic attacks, and a final assessment with an 80% passing score leads to a certificate carrying a unique number and a QR code for instant public verification.
