About Tim Mousel
Tim Mousel is the founder of Evolve AI Institute and one of the leading voices in practical AI literacy for the public sector. About the Texas DIR AI Awareness Training
Tim developed the Texas DIR AI Awareness Training specifically to meet the FY 2026-2027 certification standards published by the Texas Department of Information Resources. The course addresses all three required topic areas: a general explanation of AI and how public sector employees can use it, the risks and limitations of AI tools, and best practices for responsible and ethical AI use.
The training is written for working government employees - not technology specialists. Every module uses real-world scenarios drawn from state agency and local government contexts, from processing public records requests to using AI-assisted drafting tools in procurement. The goal is for every employee who completes the course to walk away with a clear, practical understanding of when AI is a useful tool, when it is not, and how to protect the public interest in every interaction.
Upon successful completion of the final assessment, participants receive a verifiable certificate with a unique certificate ID in the format TX-AI-YYYY-XXXXXX. Employers and agency HR departments can confirm completion at any time using the public certificate verification page - no login required.
