2. What Data the Extension Stores

NLM Organizer stores the following data locally in your browser using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API:

Folder names, colors, icons, and hierarchy
Tag names and colors
Notebook-to-folder and notebook-to-tag assignments
Favorite and archived notebook lists
Saved prompts (title, category, text)
Import history (URLs and titles of pages you chose to import)
Auto-assign rules (folder ID and text patterns you created)
User preferences (panel width, sort order, theme)
Notebook metadata (titles and last-seen timestamps for notebooks visible on NotebookLM)

All of this data stays on your device. None of it is transmitted to any server, including ours.

3. What Data We Collect

None. We do not collect, receive, or store any user data on external servers. There is no account system, no analytics, no telemetry, and no crash reporting.

4. What Data We Share

None. We do not sell, transfer, or share any user data with third parties for any purpose.

5. Permissions and Why We Need Them

The extension requests the following browser permissions, each for a specific purpose:

storage — Save your folders, tags, settings, and other organizational data locally in Chrome.
activeTab — Read the URL and title of the current page when you explicitly import it (via right-click menu, popup, or keyboard shortcut).
tabs — Find and focus your NotebookLM tab when importing, and list open tabs for the "Import all tabs" feature.
contextMenus — Add "Import to NotebookLM" options to the right-click menu.
downloads — Save backup/export files to your computer when you click Export.
scripting — Copy URLs to your clipboard during import and extract YouTube playlist data when you request it.
Host access (notebooklm.google.com) — Inject the organizer sidebar into NotebookLM pages. This is the only site where the extension's UI runs.
Host access (youtube.com) — Extract playlist video titles when you explicitly import a YouTube playlist.

6. Third-Party Services

NLM Organizer does not use any third-party services, APIs, SDKs, or analytics platforms. No data leaves your browser.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

All data persists in your browser's local storage until you:

Uninstall the extension (all data is automatically deleted), or
Use the "Reset to defaults" option in the extension's settings page, or
Clear your browser's extension storage via Chrome settings

8. Children's Privacy

NLM Organizer does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since no data is collected at all, COPPA compliance is inherently maintained.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, the updated version will be posted at this URL. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page will be revised. Since we collect no data, material changes are unlikely.
