Personal Reflection and Action Planning

1. My Top Three Strengths (skills I rated 4 or 5)

List your three strongest skills from any category. For each, explain why you rated yourself highly and how this strength could benefit you in future careers.

Strength 1:

Why this is a strength and how it helps in careers:

Strength 2:

Why this is a strength and how it helps in careers:

Strength 3:

Why this is a strength and how it helps in careers:

2. Areas for Growth (skills I rated 1-3)

Identify 2-3 skills you want to develop further. Be specific about why these skills matter for your career interests and how you plan to improve them.

Growth Area 1:

Why I want to develop this skill:

Concrete actions I can take to improve:

Growth Area 2:

Why I want to develop this skill:

Concrete actions I can take to improve:

Growth Area 3:

3. Connecting Skills to Career Interests

Think about careers that interest you. Which of your strengths align well with those careers? Which growth areas would be most valuable to develop for your career goals?

4. Human Skills vs. AI Capabilities

Looking at all four skill categories, which type of skills do you think AI will have the hardest time replicating? Why? Which of your skills fall into this category?

Assessment Rubric

Teacher Use: This rubric evaluates student self-awareness, honest reflection, and ability to connect skills to career planning.

Criteria Emerging (1-2 points) Developing (3-4 points) Proficient (5-6 points) Advanced (7-8 points)
Self-Assessment Completion
(8 points)
Completed fewer than 50% of skill ratings or left most examples blank Completed 50-75% of skill ratings with some examples provided Completed all skill ratings with most examples provided Completed all skill ratings with detailed, specific examples for every skill
Example Quality
(8 points)
Examples are vague or generic (e.g., "I'm good at this") Examples are present but lack specificity or detail Most examples are specific and demonstrate the skill clearly All examples are highly specific, detailed, and clearly demonstrate skill level
Honest Self-Reflection
(8 points)
Ratings appear inflated or deflated; little evidence of genuine reflection Some evidence of honest assessment but ratings may be inconsistent with examples Ratings appear honest and aligned with provided examples; balanced view of strengths and growth areas Demonstrates deep self-awareness with ratings fully aligned to examples; acknowledges both strengths and vulnerabilities authentically
Strengths Identification
(8 points)
Listed fewer than 3 strengths or explanations are minimal Listed 3 strengths but explanations lack depth or career connection Clearly identified 3 strengths with good explanations of career relevance Identified 3 strengths with insightful explanations of how each strength creates career advantages in specific contexts
Growth Areas with Action Plans
(8 points)
Listed fewer than 2 growth areas or no action plans provided Listed growth areas but action plans are vague (e.g., "practice more") Identified 2-3 growth areas with concrete action steps for improvement Identified growth areas with detailed, actionable improvement plans including specific resources, timelines, or strategies
Career Connection
(6 points)
Little to no connection made between skills and career interests Basic connection to careers but lacks specificity Clear connection between identified skills and specific career pathways Sophisticated analysis of how specific skills align with career requirements and how to leverage strengths while developing growth areas
Understanding AI vs. Human Skills
(6 points)
Minimal understanding of which skills AI cannot replicate Basic understanding but explanation lacks depth or personal connection Clear understanding with good explanation of AI limitations and human capabilities Nuanced understanding with insightful analysis of why certain human skills remain valuable and how AI might augment rather than replace human work
