📋 Instructions for Teachers
This document contains 6 different exit ticket formats to assess student understanding at the end of Lesson 1. Choose the format that best fits your teaching style and student needs.
🎯 Purpose of Exit Tickets
- Formative Assessment: Quickly gauge student understanding before they leave
- Identify Misconceptions: Spot areas that need reteaching
- Plan Next Steps: Use responses to inform future lessons
- Student Reflection: Help students think about their own learning
📝 How to Use
- Print: Print the desired template(s) - most templates fit 2-4 tickets per page
- Cut: Cut along dashed lines to create individual tickets
- Distribute: Give one ticket to each student in the last 3-5 minutes of class
- Collect: Gather completed tickets as students exit or at the end of class
- Review: Sort responses to identify patterns and plan follow-up
💡 Tips for Success
- Announce exit tickets at the start of class so students know they're coming
- Set a timer (2-3 minutes) so students stay focused
- Be clear that this is not graded - it's to help you teach them better
- Consider having students discuss their answers with a partner first
- Use responses to group students for reteaching or enrichment
- Share interesting responses or common questions in the next lesson
📊 Analyzing Responses
After collecting exit tickets, sort them into categories:
- Got It! ✅ - Student demonstrates clear understanding
- Almost There ⚠️ - Student has partial understanding but needs clarification
- Needs Help 🆘 - Student shows significant misconceptions or confusion
